PokerStars Overhauls Live Tournament Schedule with New Championship and Festival Events
Before the start of Day 2 of the European Poker Tour Barcelona Main Event, PokerStars announced that beginning in 2017, PokerStars live events will be restructured so that they fall under two distinct categories: PokerStars Championships and PokerStars Festivals.
The first scheduled PokerStars Championship is in the Bahamas from Jan. 6-14, 2017, a rebranding of the tournament formerly known as the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Future Championships will last 10-11 days and culminate in a €/$5,000 Main Event. Confirmed destinations for PokerStars Championships stops include Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Macau and Panama, but expect more to be announced in the future.
Meanwhile, PokerStars Festivals will last slightly shorter at six-to-seven days, and have a Main Event buy-in of €/$1,000-1,500, as well as a wide variety of events for recreational players. The only stops that were announced by EPT Tournament Director Neil Johnson were stops in New Jersey and London.
