Aspers Casino Westfield Stratford City is one of the most popular places to play poker in London, with ring games running around the clock and tournaments attractive to recreational and serious players alike.

In March, Aspers Casino inked a 12-month deal with 888poker to provide branding throughout its poker room. As a result, many more 888Live Local events are also hosted at the casino with lofty guarantees.

John Scanlon, the Head of Poker at Aspers Casino, explained the deal when it was announced, stating that, "It's a 12-month partnership we've agreed to cross promote live poker with online poker. Because of how strong 888 are in the UK market it made sense to do the partnership with them. There are a lot of synergies between Aspers and our mind set in how we see poker developing in the future."

The next 888Live Local event, dubbed the 888 Summer Special is just around the corner, taking place from July 7-10 where players will compete for the at least £100,000 prize pool. An 888poker rep informed us that the £500 entry event is expected to attract hundreds of players including the 24 players that qualified via online satellites that took place leading up to the event.

The format of the tournament provides a deep structure with two opening days on July 7 and July 8 and players beginning with 30,000 chips. Additionally blind levels begin on the opening days at 40 minute intervals and increase to 60 minutes for Day 2 on July 9 and the final day on July 10.

While players can no longer qualify online, they can still get in cheaply with Aspers Casino hosting a few £40 qualifiers leading up to the event. Players on a more restrictive budget will also be able to get in on the action this weekend in the one-day £110 888 Summer Special Saturday Side Event which allows for up to two reentries during the late registration period.
