Jason Mercier Proposes To Natasha Barbour at World Series of Poker Final Table

2 min read

On Friday, July 8, 2016, Natasha Barbour entered the final day of play in the 2016 World Series of Poker $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em third in chips amongst the final six competitors. She then worked her way to a third-place finish worth a career-best $348,374. While the money was certainly nice, it was the shocking surprise that came after her elimination that left her shedding tears of joy.

Immediately after her A5 fell to the A10 of eventual winner Yue Du, Barbour's boyfriend, five-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Jason Mercier, hopped over the rail and made his way over to offer a comforting hug. Mercier then whispered in Barbour's ear that he had something to ask her before taking a step back, reaching into his pocket, and dropping to one knee. He then popped the question "Will you marry me?" and a happily stunned Barbour said yes.

While the gold bracelet would've been nice, we're sure that Barbour is thrilled to walk away with a ring. This really is "The Summer of Mercier."
