In today’s highly competitive poker market, few live tournaments see the attendance figures grow year-on-year, but one tournament in particular has done exactly that, and its latest edition is right around the corner.

The Grosvenor Poker-run Goliath tournament attracted a field of 1,765 in 2011 with 1,954 players turning out for the 2012 incarnation of the £120 buy-in spectacular. The upward trend continued in 2013 when 2,570 entries were process, with the 2014 field topping an impressive 3,394.

Last year’s Goliath tournament saw 2,764 unique entrants make 1,446 re-entries between them, taking the total attendance to a casino-filling 4,210, which also smashed the £250,000 guarantee to smithereens, leaving £421,000 to play for.

That particular tournament, the 2015 Goliath, ended after nine days of intense poker action with 27-year-old Miikka Toikka being the last player standing. Toikka navigated his way to victory, and collected a career-best score of some £70,800, the lion’s share of more than £200,000 awarded at the final table.

The 2016 Goliath promises to be just as exciting and packed with value, thanks to the plentiful satellite being run at Grosvenor Poker’s online operation, plus the fact the Goliath only costs £120 to buy into, meaning it attracts recreational players in droves.

It is not only the £250,000 guarantee Goliath tournament taking place at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, UK, because there are several side events for players to get their teeth stuck into.

Over the course of the festival, poker aficionados can compete in games such as Omaha 4/5/6, Win the Button, Joker is Wild, and many more.

As you can see from the schedule, there are seven Day 1’s running from July 30 through to August 7. Players are allowed to make two re-entries per Day 1, meaning you could have three bites at the cherry per day. By winning multiple seats online, you put yourself in with a great shot of scooping some of the £250,000 guaranteed prize pool.

In addition to live satellites taking place at Grosvenor Casinos around the United Kingdom, there are dozens of online satellites running throughout the week at Grosvenor Poker. Scores of players in the 2015 Goliath had won their £120 seat for only a few pounds, with one lucky player qualifying for free!

Why not follow in their footsteps by heading to Grosvenor Poker and seeing if you can win your way into the £250,000 guaranteed Goliath tournament for a fraction of the £120 buy-in?
