Remko Rinkema, Dzmitry Urbanovich, and Others Earn European Poker Awards
On Tuesday night over in Monaco, the annual European Poker Awards took place. Awards were given out in 12 categories to reward those in the European poker industry. Some of the winners included PokerNews contributors, with Remko Rinkema, host of the Remko Report, earning European Media Person of the Year, and Jesse May and Mickey May winning the award for European Poker Media Content of the Year for their PokerNews feature article Devilfish: A Friend with a Heart of Gold.
Other winners included Dzmitry Urbanovich for European Breakout Player of the Year, Hermance Blum for European Industry Person of the Year, and the EPT Barcelona Main Event for European Event of the Year (Buy-In Over €2,000).
"This award means a lot," Rinkema said after winning the award. "As someone who doesn't play, this is the highest thing you can get as recognition for your work. I want to thank Frank [Op de Woerd] mostly for bringing me into the fold about eight years ago and allowing me to do this. Keep reading, keep listening — I love my job, I love this industry, and thank you so much."
In similar fashion to the American Poker Awards, which awarded a special Jury Award to Kevin "Kevmath" Mathers, the recipient of the Jury Award at the European Poker Awards was photographer Neil Stoddart.

- INDUSTRY PERSON OF THE YEAR: Hermance Blum
- POKER INNOVATION OR INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR: Norwegian Championship broadcast
- MEDIA CONTENT OF THE YEAR: Devilfish: A Friend with a Heart of Gold by Jesse May and Mickey May
- JURY AWARD: Neil Stoddart
- 2015 GPI EUROPEAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Fedor Holz
