Tournament poker is one of the most exciting formats of the game thanks to the chance players have to turn a relatively small investment into a huge pile of cash.

It is only natural that players and media focus their attention on the higher buy-in events, as this is where the big money is won, but poker isn’t only about giant prize pools and astronomical buy-ins. Believe it or not, there is another world out there.

In steps partypoker with the launch of what it calls its Bootcamp tournaments, a series of daily micro-stakes events that have combined weekly guarantees of some $63,000 despite the largest buy-in only weighing in at an affordable $2.20.

Keeping with the site's boxing theme, partypoker has added to the Featherweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, and High Roller tournaments with a Flyweight division, which are the tournaments making up Bootcamp.

Tom Waters, Group Head of partypoker, said: "Since the improvement of our tournament offering on partypoker and the launch of Power Series it was also important to ensure our players at the lower stakes buy-in get to experience the same level of quality and variation. Bootcamp allows poker players to buy-in for less than $2.20 and win a share of the $63,000 guaranteed prize pool each week."

Both hold'em and Omaha tournaments feature in the Bootcamp series, with hold'em events costing between $0.22 and $1.10 to enter, while Omaha specialists can buy into tournaments costing between $1.10 and $2.20.

Although some of the Bootcamp tournaments have small guaranteed prize pools — here's looking at you, $50 guaranteed six-max turbo costing $0.55 — there are some tournaments with much more substantial prizes on offer, including two nightly $1,000 guaranteed hold'em events commanding a $1.10 buy-in.

In an attempt to give its micro-stakes players a broad choice of games, partypoker has added several variants to the Bootcamp series. Players can enjoy reentry and rebuy hold'em, Omaha, and Omaha hi-low events, bounty tournaments, and Speed Down, where the time between blind levels increases deeper into the tournament).

To try out the Bootcamp tournaments for yourself, download partypoker via PokerNews, make your first deposit using the bonus code "PNCOM", and partypoker will match your deposit amount 100 percent up to $500 as long as the offer exists.
