Make it 19 straight weeks for Steve O’Dwyer at the top of the overall Global Poker Index rankings, although sitting right behind him in second position is the hard-charging Anthony Zinno who looks to regain the top spot he occupied briefly for two weeks back in July 2015.

Zinno came close to earning an incredible fourth World Poker Tour title at the WPT Amsterdam Main Event in Holland this week, finishing third in the event eventually won by Andjelko Andrejevic. That helped Zinno move up from No. 4 to No. 2 in the rankings, putting him just one more decent cash away from taking the lead from O’Dwyer.

The rest of the top 10 saw little movement during an otherwise quiet week on the tournament trail, with just a few trading positions amid small shuffling. Indeed, the top 50 remained in relative stasis for the week, exceptions being former No. 1 Ole Schemion’s move from No. 49 to No. 39 following his strong European Poker Tour Grand Final (including a win in the €100,000 Super High Roller), and Andrejevic stepping up from No. 52 to No. 42, a new GPI peak for the Floridian.

There were just six new names appearing in this week’s GPI top 300, most coming in right at the bottom of the list. Diego Zeiter is the highest-ranked of the half-dozen, having finished fifth in the in the €6,000 WPT Amsterdam High Roller won by Robert Soogea to move up in the rankings and enter the top 300 for the first time in the Swiss player’s career.

Also debuting in the top 300 this week is China’s Weiyi Zhang who cashed three times at the EPT Grand Final — all final tables — including winning a €1,100 NLHE side event.
