Sunday Briefing

What would you do with $171,854.75? That's a question we should be asking the Czech Republic's "Sr.Rouquinho," because that is the princely sum that he walked away with in the early hours of Monday morning after being the last man standing in the PokerStars Sunday Million.

Despite huge crowds of players turning out for the UKIPT and European Poker Tour festivals in Dublin, Ireland, almost 5,500 players bought into PokerStars' largest weekly tournament, beating the guarantee by $98,800.

In addition to Sr.Rouquinho, Russia's "NEMEZIS JT" collected a six-figure score, one weighing in at $128,010.20. Finland's "ismo<3seppo," winner of the now defunct PokerStars tournament leaderboard in 2013, 2014, and 2015, finished third for $62,082.20.

This week’s PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up ended in a three-way chop, with each of the three players collecting more than $46,000. "arturuz77" finished in third place for $46,293.12, Greece's "Pokerfan89Gr" was the runner-up for $53,416.40, with Switzerland's "shtruddle" emerging victorious and collecting $64,427.98.

Winners of other Sunday majors on PokerStars included:

  • “MiracleQ” – winner of the Sunday Kickoff for $28,134.80
  • Pascal “Paffchen” Hartmann – winner of the Hotter $162 for $20,341.25
  • “Kafrou” – winner of the Sunday Rebuy for $32,405.51
  • “kritikomas” – winner of the Bigger $109 for $35,472.51
  • Laszlo “omaha4rollz” Bujtas – winner of the Sunday 500 for $57,750.00

  • Alisson “heyalisson” Piekazewicz – winner of the Sunday 6-Max for $19,373.12
  • “calo88” – winner of the Sunday Supersonic for $44,737.31

Over at partypoker, "MrsPaintba1l" took down the $150,000 guaranteed High Roller for $27,780 after a heads-up battle with "ErikSchniedel," who is thought to be Ole Schemion. He banked $19,515 for his runner-up finish.

The other $150,000 guaranteed tournament at partypoker this Sunday was the Main Event, which attracted 1,414 players to the virtual felt. "lovecClCA" was the eventual champion, defeating "spowi007" to the title. The heads-up duo struck a deal that saw the victor claim $24,136.57 and the runner-up $22,633.44.

There was a familiar name at the top of the pile in the $100,000 Sunday Challenge at 888poker. British superstar Chris "WhatWudJSay" Moorman topped a field of 777 players to get his hands on the $18,809.48 first place prize. With the win, Moorman eclipsed $13 million in career online tournament earnings.

Germany’s "_hiuspeinz_" won the $70,000 Sunday Crocodile for $15,762.50, while there was a Czech Republic one-two finish in the $75,000 Baby Whale when "Kuncito 1997" beat fellow countryman "OMGmadafaka" in the one-on-one stage of the tournament to scoop the $24,738.00 top prize — second place was worth $18,228.00.

Completing our recap of the Sunday action this week are the results at Full Tilt. It was here that "KokoulinV" took down the Sunday Brawl for $7,892.65, a fine figure aided by him claiming 10 $50 bounties on his way to victory.

"Pisstanek" won the Sunday Major for a $12,090.00 addition to their bankroll, while Paul "Sentapied" Senter won the T-Rex for $3,686.56, which included eight $50 bounties.
