During Tuesday's Draft Order Selection Show, the Global Poker League (GPL) announced a new development to its program. Originally slated as a league of 12 franchises with five players each, the GPL has added a sixth player to each team and the draft has now been increased to four rounds.

The general format of the draft will remain in tact, but there's a little bit of a twist. The added fourth pick of the draft will be optional for franchise managers. If the option is taken, a manager will select a fourth team member on Feb. 25, 2016, at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. If a manager passes on the option, he or she will have an additional wild card selection.

Only players that were in the top 1,000 of the Global Poker Index (GPI) as of Dec. 31, 2015, and made the decision to opt in of the draft will be eligible to be selected. There are 203 players available. The wild card selections can be any player a franchise manager selects post draft from the list of 203 eligible players or players not in the top 1,000 of the GPI as of Dec. 31, 2015.

The draft will be held in a snake-style format. Managers will select players in a predetermined order for the first round before that order reverses for the second round. Another reverse of the order happens for the third round such that it is the same as the first, and then one final reverse will happen for the fourth round, such that it is the same as the second.
