Mid-States Poker Tour to Host Michigan State Poker Championship from Oct. 10-18
In just one week, from October 10-18 to be exact, Season 6 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will travel to FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Michigan for a series of qualifiers and the Michigan State Poker Championship, a $1,100 buy-in Main Event that features a $200,000 guarantee.
"Every time the MSPT visits FireKeepers Casino it seems things get bigger and better," said MSPT owner and operator Bryan Mileski. "We expect our next stop to follow suit as players, such as local player and former MSPT Player of the Year Patrick Steele, flock to the property to compete in the prestigious Michigan State Poker Championship."
The last time the tour was at FireKeepers was back in May, which is when Mark Rubenstein topped a field of 614 entrants to win $142,637. You can read more about his win by clicking here.
“FireKeepers has been a staple of the MSPT dating back to 2013, and the Main Event has attracted an average of 423 entries," said PokerNews editor-in-chief Donnie Peters. "What’s better than the average is that each time the MSPT heads to FireKeepers, the Main Event has seen large amounts of growth, starting with 272 entries back in March 2013 and hitting a whopping 614 entries earlier this year. I can only imagine that another record field will turn out for the event, and it’s certainly one you don’t want to miss.”
The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to capture action from the Main Event, and we're happy to announce that players will have the opportunity to use the My Stack app to update their hands and chip counts straight into the live blog.

The Main Event will be held over four days beginning Thursday, October 15 with Day 1a at 4 p.m. Day 1a will play 14 levels. Friday's Day 1b will start at 12 p.m. and also play 14 levels, and Saturday's Day 1c will be at the same time. Players who advance from Day 1a are not eligible to play in following flights. The remaining players from each flight will combine on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. and play until a champion is crowned.

"FireKeepers Casino Hotel features a spacious 14 table non-smoking poker room with a friendly and knowledgeable staff," poker room manager Kelly Bailey previously told PokerNews. "Our most popular game is $1/$2 no-limit Texas hold’em with a buy-in of $50-$400. The larger than usual buy-in range — up to $400 — is quite a draw for the room and appeals to a much broader range of players. We spread $1/$2 pot-limit Omaha as well as $2/$5 on demand and limit Texas hold’em. In addition to a bad beat jackpot, we offer daily high hand bonuses as well as specialty promotions throughout the year."
