The New Jersey Online Poker Briefing: Michael "JohnnyDrama" Haberman Wins Big Again

Labor Day weekend brought a couple of new changes to the tournament schedule in the Garden State on partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com.

One permanent change is that buy-ins are no longer rounded figures. As an example, the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com $50,000 Guarantee, which used to set players back a $185+15 entry fee, now costs $200+15. While tournaments are now more expensive for players to buy into, the net effect of this is positive as they are paying less effective rake with the same $15 being charged on $200 that was previously charged on $185.

Another change, which we believe is temporary due to the holiday weekend was that the Daily $10K tournaments on partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com were reduced to Daily $7.5K tournaments.

The two biggest winners over the weekend came in the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com $50,000 Guarantee, when Michael "JohnnyDrama" Haberman Jr and "magneto23" agreed to a heads-up deal after outlasting a 237-player field to win $8,385 and $8,200 respectfully.

Haberman is absolutely on fire, chopping this tournament for the second time in less than a month. On August 16, Haberman officially finished in second place in this tournament for $8,242 after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Jeremy "Jermz" Danger, who won $8,342 for his efforts.

The third biggest winner over the weekend in the Garden State came in the WSOP.com/888poker NJ Sunday $30,000 Guarantee with "PokerThanks" banking $8,192 after outlasting the 164 player field. Maureen "Redhotmomma" Ludwig took home $4,779, her biggest score to date on New Jersey regulated sites, for her runner-up performance. Remarkably, Ludwig has previously appeared on the final table in this tournament on five separate occasions.
