It was a slow week as far as online poker was concerned. Traffic on Full Tilt has dwindled significantly since their new changes were put into place, while the biggest winner on PokerStars won just $58,411. Still, there were some pretty big headlines coming out of the virtual realm.

Foremost among them was the report that Daniel "Jungleman" Cates lost $5 million playing in high-stakes cash games. Granted, it wasn't online, but the loss seems to have him scurrying back to the virtual felt. More on that below.

As for this week's winner, the biggest was "spaise411," who won $58,441 in 796 hands over five sessions, which was more than double second place on the leader board ("1nvoker" won $27,382 in a single 131-hand session).

On the other end of the spectrum, Jean-Robert "Jaqueline" Bellande continued his online high-stakes rollercoaster ride. Two week's ago the former Survivor contestant was a big loser only to rebound last week with a $236,166 win. Well, it proved short lived as he was once again the week's biggest loser after dropping $365,752 in 2,804 hands over 39 sessions.

Other losers included Phil "RaiseOnce" Ivey (-$142,658 in a single 274-hand session) and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom (-$82,004 in 22 sessions/1,583 hands).

Daniel Cates Claims to Have Lost $5 Million in Manila Big Game

Last week, PokerNews spoke with Poker King Club President Winfred Yu in Manila, where some big cash games were being spread with the likes of Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, and Daniel Cates. According to Yu, the games were as high as HK$20,000/$40,000/$80,000 (approx. $2,500/$5,000/$10,000).

Well, according to a Thursday Tweet from Cates, things didn't go well for him:

While the purported $5 million loss didn't happen online, Cates is one of online poker's most prolific players, so it's certainly noteworthy. Not only that, as you can see from the tail end of the Tweet, it looks like we can expect to see Cates back at the virtual felt sooner than later.

"Ravenswood13" Finishes as the Weekend's Biggest Winner

Last weekend, "Ravenswood13" finished as the biggest winner after profiting $83,000. Rounding out the top three were Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn and Alex "BiatchPeople" Luneau with $53,600 and $51,900 wins respectively.

According to HighStakesDB, "Ravenswood13" won over $100,000 at the $1,000/$2,000 fixed-limit Omaha hi/lo tables, which included $40,000 in an 18-minute match against Jean-Robert "Jaqueline" Bellande, Elior "Crazy Elior" Sion, and Luke "lb6121" Schwartz. The rest, $67,300 to be exact, came in a 37-minute heads-up match against Sion.

Biggest Pot From the Past Seven Days

While the fireworks didn't exactly fly online this past week, there were still several worthwhile five-figure pots. Here's a look at the top three.

Hand #1: On August 8, six players were seated at a $100/$200 no-limit hold'em game when "pokerok18" ($9,538.32) raised to $400 under the gun. "RuckusTheJam" ($7,005.08) called from the cutoff, "candela2005" ($20,299.09) three-bet to $2,000 from the small blind, and "ham1|_|0n" ($30,825.35) called from the big. "pokerok18" then four-bet jammed all in, "RuckusTheJam" folded, and "candela2005" five-bet all in over the top. "ham1|_|0n" made the call, which meant there was $29,009.96 in the main pot and $21,521.54 in the side.

The board ran out 10K498, and "pokerok18" rolled over the AA, which was good enough to take the main. "candela2005" then rolled over the KJ for a pair of kings, which was good enough to win the side as "ham1|_|0n" simply set his hand to the muck.

Hand #2: In the same game, "ham1|_|0n" ($23,679.84) raised to $600 under the gun and "ICEMAN2710" ($19,734) three-bet to $1,800 from the cutoff. "candela2005" ($22,832.48) came along from the big blind, "ham1|_|0n" four-bet to $4,904, and "ICEMAN2710" got out of the way. "candela2005" made the call and then check-called a bet of $2,162.70 on the 235 flop before both players checked the Q turn.

When the 6 completed the board on the river, "candela2005" checked for a third time and "ham1|_|0n" moved all in for $16,613.14. "candela2005" called off his last $15,765.78 but mucked when "ham1|_|0n" rolled over the QQ for a set. Ship the $47,564.96 pot to "ham1|_|0n."

Hand #3: On August 10, in a five-handed game of $100/$200 pot-limit Omaha, action folded to "fjutekk" ($20,995) on the button and he raised to $500. "WithColor" ($25,680) responded with a three-bet to $1,600 from the big blind, "fjutekk" called, and the two saw a flop of 8QA. "WithColor" led out for $1,600, "fjutekk" called, and the 9 appeared on the turn.

"WithColor" bet again, this time $4,676.40, and again "fjutekk" just called. When the 2 completed the board on the river, "WithColor" moved all in for $15,847.80 and "fjutekk" wasted little time in calling off his last $13,118.60 to create a $42,090 pot. "WithColor" tabled the JJ67 for a pair of jacks, which was no good as "fjutekk" had flopped middle set with the QQ57.
