MSPT Potawatomi

This weekend, the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will be at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in downtown Milwaukee for a $1,100 buy-in, $200,000 guarantee Main Event. In reality, that guarantee will prove meaningless as the stop has a history of attracted massive fields.

For instance, back in April, the MSPT Potawatomi Main Event attracted 635 entrants, created a $635,000 prize pool, and saw local pro Jason "GrindMentality" Mirza emerge victorious to capture the $147,529 first-place prize. The time before that, the MSPT Potawatomi attracted 487 entrants, created a prize pool of $487,000, and saw Jason Zarlenga capture his second MSPT title, not to mention a $120,164 first-place prize.

On both occasions, the MSPT Potawatomi set a Wisconsin state record for largest poker tournament, and hopes are high they'll do it again on their third visit to the property.

"Numbers have been up in the qualifiers leading up to the Main Event, so once again we're expecting a huge turnout for the Potawatomi tournament," said MSPT owner and operator Bryan Mileski. "The guarantee will no doubt be shattered once again, and if all goes according to plan we'll set yet another Wisconsin state record."

The Main Event will be held over three days beginning Friday with Day 1a at 4 p.m. Day 1a will play 14 levels. Saturday's Day 1b will also start at 4 p.m. and also play 14 levels. Players who advance from Day 1a are not eligible to play in Day 1b. The remaining players from each flight will combine on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. and play until a champion is crowned. The final table will then be live streamed around the world, with MSPT Team Pro Matt Alexander and PokerNews' own Chad Holloway on commentary duties.

In addition, the PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to capture action from the Main Event, which means players will have opportunity to use the My Stack app to update their hands and chip counts straight into the live blog.
