In May, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and the Global Poker Index (GPI) announced a partnership in which the GPI would "tabulate, power, and sponsor" the WSOP Player of the Year award. The race will last over the course of 74 events at the WSOP and WSOP Europe (Oct. 8-24 in Berlin, Germany).
All that's left on the WSOP summer docket is the Main Event as the other 67 events have been completed and are reflected in the standings. Just remaining is the Main Event, which is approaching 100 players remaining. Mike Gorodinsky still holds the lead in the GPI WSOP POY race and will maintain it through the summer, however Brian Hastings is still going strong in the Main Event and if he were to make the November Nine, he would be just a few points shy of Gorodinsky. However, WSOP Europe will be completed by then and the standings will surely look different.
For now, though, here are the current standings which includes Main Event eliminations through 145th place.
