Georgia's first-ever World Poker Tour National (WPTN) live poker event kicked off on Saturday, May 30, at the Europe Bet Poker Room in Tbilisi. On Friday, June 5, the $1,000 Main Event will begin and those interested will be able to watch the official live stream by clicking here.

The first event of the Georgia Poker Championship festival had a $250 buy-in and attracted 184 entries. Alexandr Aprian emerged victorious in that even after defeating Levan Rchevlishvili in heads-up play. The event had a guarantee of $30,000.

After the event, Aprian mentioned that it was the first big live tournament for him. He originally had set himself the goal of cashing in the event, which he did, but tat cash soon turned into a final table run and eventually a victory to earn him $10,305.

"The most important thing is to have the victorious spirit," said Aprian. "I am a three-time champion of Georgia in pool, and trust me, without victorious spirit you won't get anywhere."

With that event and others in the book, the focus now shifts to the Europe-Bet WPT National Georgia $1,000 Main Event that begins today, June 5. With a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, the $1,000 Main Event is set to attract an impressive field for the region, and fans can watch the action via the live stream.

If interested, just head to the event's Twitch channel to watch, where both an English and Georgian live stream will be available.
