Back in December, the World Poker Tour (WPT) struck an exclusive deal with Ourgame International Holdings Limited to license their brand to more than a dozen countries. Now, Ourgame has announced their first stop under the agreement. By joining forces with J&P Entertainment, Ourgame will hold the WPT National Korea from December 14-20 in Jeju Island at the Grand Hotel.

"We are very pleased to be working with J&P Entertainment, and to organize this event in the picturesque Jeju Island," said Ourgame Asian Market Development Director Raymond Wong. "We believe that WPT, the top international poker tour, will bring Jeju more vitality, and, at the same time, the beautiful environment and excellent scenery here will bring a comfortable tournament experience for the players."

The event will come a little over a year after the highly successful WPT National China, a tournament that attracted 898 players and created a prize pool of $1,433,784. That tournament was won by Jiayang Liang for $250,912, and inspired tournament officials to turn their attention to other Asian markets.

"WPT National China’s success is obvious to all," said J&P Entertainment CEO Tom Chou. "We hope that we can have the same success in South Korea and promote the development of South Korea's poker competition under the guidance and assistance of World Poker Tour and Ourgame."

The WPT National Korea is expected to draw more than 300 players, and Ourgame intends to actively promote the tournament throughout the Philippines, Vietnam, and other regions. J&P Entertainment, which is a part of Paradise Group's Paradise Poker Room, has extensive experience in the management of poker tournaments and will lend full support to WPT National Korea. In the past, Ourgame and J&P Entertainment have cooperated on Ourgame Poker World offline activities.

"Based on the increasing demand for high-level Texas hold'em competition from poker players in the region, the two sides decided to jointly introduce WPT to Korea, allowing more players to join top international competitions and enjoy testing their skills on the most authoritative game system and the most professional platform," said the WPT in a press release.

Ourgame has also revealed that they will host at least five to six WPT events in 2015, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia and other regions, while many more other areas are under negotiation.
