The Online Railbird Report: Blom Losses Last Week's Profit; Ivey Wins Big on Sunday
Last week, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom finished as the week's biggest winner with $355,382 in profit. It was a nice performance by the Swede, but unfortunately for him he gave it all back. This week, Blom lost $339,612 in 1,873 hands over 10 sessions on Full Tilt, which was enough to make him the week's biggest loser.
On the flip side, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond finished as this week's biggest winner after winning $176,710 in a single 396-hand session on Full Tilt.
Meanwhile, over on PokerStars, both "dougiedan678" (+$130,422 in 28 sessions/5,248 hands) and "FastCarsss" (+$109,056 in 16 sessions/2,125 hands) won big, while "**Geka**555" (-$149,534 in 66 sessions/1,878 hands) and "LEXER1986" (-$128,625 in 7 sessions/987 hands) both lost six figures.
Swedes Battle It Out in Friday Foray
On Friday, April 17, Mikael "punting-peddler" Thuritz and Blom squared off at the $1,500/$3,000 8-game tables, and after 3.5 hours of play, it was Thuritz who logged off a $126,600 winner.
Blom actually got off to a hot start pulling out to a $106,000 lead, which included winning the two biggest pots of the day. Have a look:
Hand #1: In a round of $300/$600 no-limit hold'em, Blom ($96,373.50) raised to $1,800 and then called when Thuritz ($76,992) popped it to $6,000. When the flop came down Q♠Q♦2♦, Thuritz bet $3,900, Blom called, and the 8♥ appeared on the turn. Thuritz bet $8,100, Blom called once again, and the Q♣ completed the board on the river. Thuritz bet $26,100, and then folded when Blom shoved all in.
Ship the $88,200 pot to Blom.
Hand #2: Blom ($36,584) raised to $1,200 from the button, Thuritz ($83,091.50) called, and the flop fell 2♦9♠4♣. Thuritz proceeded to check-call a bet of $1,800, and then check-called one of $4,800 on the 6♦ turn. When the J♣ completed the board on the river, Thuritz checked for a third time and Blom bet $12,600.
Thuritz woke up with a check-raise to $29,700, and Blom wasted little time in calling off his last $16,184. Thuritz tabled the 3♠2♠ for bottom pair, but it was no good as Blom laid claim to the $73,168 pot with the J♥10♠ for top pair.
Despite winning those two hands, Blom hit a downswing and Thuritz finished in the black after 724 hands.

Ivey Finishes as Sunday's Biggest Winner
On Sunday, April 19, Phil "Polarizing" Ivey finished as the day's biggest winner after banking $181,300 at the 8-game tables on Full Tilt. Ivey, who is currently the year's biggest loser, did so by taking on Thuritz for 229 hands over 90 minutes.
Ivey also won $16,000 playing Isaac "luvtheWNBA" Haxton for an hour at the $250/$500 pot-limit Omaha tables. Ivey was up six figures at one point during the 84-hand match, but Haxton stormed back, which included winning a couple big pots.
Hand #1: Ivey ($95,077) raised to $1,500 from the button and was met by a three-bet to $4,500 from Haxton ($54,858). Ivey four-bet to $13,500, Haxton called, and the flop came down 7♠J♦8♦. Haxton led out for $9,000, Ivey raised to $54,000, and Haxton called off his remaining $32,358.
Haxton: A♦10♦9♥J♠
Ivey: K♦2♦K♣8♠
Ivey was in big trouble as his flush draw was second best to Haxton, who also happened to flop the nuts. The 8♣ turn gave Ivey some full house outs, but the 4♥ river blanked to send the $109,716 pot to Haxton.
Hand #2: Ivey ($99,940) opened for $1,500 and then called when Haxton ($49,999) three-bet to $4,500, which brought about a flop of Q♠7♦K♦. Haxton led out for $9,000, Ivey raised to $36,000, and Haxton moved all in for $45,999. Ivey called and the cards were turned up.
Haxton: K♣K♥J♥3♠
Ivey: A♣9♣Q♦5♦
Ivey had flopped middle pair with a flush draw, but Haxton was well out in front with top set. Neither the 3♥ turn nor 2♣ river changed a thing, and Haxton took down the $99,998 pot.
"bajskorven87" Finishes as Tuesday's Biggest Winner in Wild Game
On Tuesday, April 21, "bajskorven87" and "megabanny" played a six-hour-long heads-up match at the $50/$100 no-limit hold'em tables on PokerStars. It was an action-packed affair, but in the end it was Sweden's "bajskorven87" who walked away a $260,400 winner, more than enough to make him the day's biggest winner. Not surprisingly, "bajskorven87" took down the two biggest hands of the match.
Hand #1: "bajskorven87" ($63,980.84) raised to $300 and "megabanny" ($84,643.79) three-bet to $900. Not to be outdone, "bajskorven87" four-bet to $2,700, "megabanny" called, and the flop came down 5♠K♥9♠. After a check, "bajskorven87" bet $3,300 and then called when "megabanny" check-raised to $9,299. When the 3♣ appeared on the turn, "megabanny" bet $11,998 and then called when "bajskorven87" shoved all in for $51,981.84.
"megabanny": K♠8♠
"bajskorven87": K♦J♥
"megabanny" held top pair with a spade draw, but he had kicker issues as "bajskorven87" also flopped top pair with a jack kicker. The 3♦ river failed to help "megabanny," and he watched the $127,961.68 pot pushed to "bajskorven87."
Hand #2: "bajskorven87" opened for $300 on the button and then called when "megabanny" three-bet to $900. The latter then led out for $1,798 on the 10♦2♣J♦ flop, and the former called to see the Q♠ turn. "megabanny" bet $5,394, "bajskorven87" called, and the 8♦ completed the board on the river.
"megabanny" bet $16,182, and then called off for $37,197.90 total after "bajskorven87" had raised to $48,459.99. "megabanny" tabled the A♣K♥ for a Broadway straight, but it was no good as "bajskorven87" had rivered a flush with the K♦5♦ to win the $90,579.80 pot.
In other Tuesday news, Ivey dropped $131,800 to "HoldemJill9" in just 91 hands at the $1,500/$3,000 8-game tables on Full Tilt. Fortunately for Ivey, he got $100,000 of it back from Blom later in the day.
