Hollywood Poker Open Grantville to Host $1,115 Regional Main Event This Weekend
Since the end of March, the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Pennsylvania has been playing host to the Hollywood Poker Open (HPO), which offered 11 HPO-sanctioned "featured" events. On Saturday, the stop will culminate with the tour's latest $1,115 Regional Main Event.
The two-day tournament will kick off at 12:15 p.m. on April 4, and is expected to attract some of the area's best players. 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champ and HPO ambassador Chris Moneymaker has already made the trip to Grantville – which is just a short drive from nearby Harrisburg – meaning players have the chance to play with a true poker superstar. Others who've been spotted at HPO Grantville throughout the week and may make an appearance in the Main Event are Bill Kridle, Gilbert Thurston, and Eric Sisson, just to name a few.
Last year, Bradley Yazici topped a field of 37 players to take down the title for $22,752, though back then the Main Event boasted a $1,800 buy-in. A more affordable buy-in combined with the HPO's recent success is sure to result in a bigger turnout.
Like last year, the PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on hand to capture all the Regional Main Event action in our live blog. Players will also be able to use the PokerNews' My Stack app to update their hands and chip counts straight into the live blog. It's absolutely free, and to learn more, or to download on your Android or Apple device, click here.
In addition, promotional seats into the season-ending Championship Event at M Resort Casino Spa in Las Vegas will be given away throughout the HPO Grantville.
"We plan to not only give away hundreds of seats [over the season] to the Championship again, but we will also implement similar seat winner promotions to the Regional tournament series as well," said Bill Bruce, who has served as the HPO tournament director since the tour's inception. "These HPO tournament fields are such a great mix of traveling poker professionals and local promotion winners which makes the tournaments really attractive to all levels of poker players."
