The PokerStars MicroMillions Returns On March 19 With a $5 Million Prize Pool
To the delight of many low-stakes online tournament players, on Monday PokerStars released the schedule for the 10th edition of the MicroMillions. This 100-event series takes place from March 19-29, featuring 100 low-buy-in events with a combined $5 million in guaranteed prizes.
The previous nine versions of the MicroMillions witnessed a combined 12 million tournament entries and an impressive $75 million in prizes awarded.
This MicroMillions 10 poker festival is not about whether only the players with the biggest wallets can enter, since the schedule once again will offer a variety of buy-ins from 11 cents to $22. For example, the series kicks off with an $0.11 No-Limit Hold’em Hyper-Active Rebuy tournament with a $20,000 guarantee and takes off from there with a total of six events held on the opening day.
The highlight of the poker series is the $22 MicroMillions Main Event taking place on March 29 at 14:30 ET. PokerStars is hosting many satellites for this tournament to provide as many players as possible a chance at the $1 million guaranteed prize pool.
Germany's "makarios007" finished on top of this tournament in the MicroMillions 9 for $92,899 after a three-handed deal at the final table in November 2014.
Hungary's "stygher" holds the record for the biggest win in this tournament festival when he bested a 59,213 player field to win $160,726 in the MicroMillions 5 Main Event in July 2013.
While most of the events on the MicroMillions 10 schedule will be played in no-limit hold'em, there are events on the schedule in just about any poker variant you can think of including Badugi, courchevel, pot-limit Omaha, stud, and razz.
Players will also have a chance to play in a variety of formats including freezeouts, six-max, "Bubble Dash", Zoom turbo, progressive super-knockout, ante up and big antes.
PokerStars will once again be offering a leaderboard to reward the best performers of the series. First place will receive free Sunday Million tickets for six months, second through ninth place will each receive five Sunday Million tickets, and 10th-100th place will each receive one Sunday Million ticket.
