PokerStars Announces $15 Million Gtd. for 2015 Turbo Championship of Online Poker
The fourth edition of the Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) is back at PokerStars with an event-heavy calendar that is going to distribute a guaranteed prize pool of $15 million over 50 different tournaments from Jan. 22 and Feb. 1, 2015.
Traditionally announced to welcome in the New Year, the TCOOP has become one of the most popular online events since its inception in 2012, with participation that has always shattered the monster guarantee.
The 2015 edition of the TCOOP is set to replicate the success of past years as it brings back an impressive number of fast-structured tournaments at a wide range of buy-ins, which is something that both recreational and professional players seem to highly appreciate.
"[The] TCOOP is an awesome series because the tournaments are so quick and varied – you don’t have to be up all night to win some huge money, and the range of formats and game choices is so diverse. I haven't won one yet but will be giving it my best shot," Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody said.
The series is highlighted by the 2 million guaranteed Main Event, a $700 buy-in tournament that will start on Feb. 1 at 15:30 ET. The Main Event will award a top prize of at least $300,000 to its champion.
Other marquee events in the calendar include the opening TCOOP Event #1, a $27 buy-in $500,000 no-limit hold'em 6-max tournament running on Thursday, Jan 22, as well as the TCOOP Event #47, a $2,100 no-limit hold’em with a $1,250,000 guarantee.
"I love how most of the events won't take more than a couple of hours to complete and they are perfect to play on a tablet," Team PokerStars Online Pro, Mickey Petersen said.
Petersen, who cashed in 16 different TCOOP events in 2014, added that "turbo tournaments require a different set of skills compared to other tournament series and provide constant action."

All players who participate in the 2015 TCOOP will also compete in a special Player of the Series Leaderboard with hopes of bringing home the series’ trophy and one of 100 SCOOP tickets totaling $34,160.
Last year, the leaderboard highlighted the impressive performance of Norway’s Christian "CMoosepower" Elgstrøm who was able to cash in 16 of the 50 events in the schedule, bringing home a total of $42,666 in winnings plus a 2015 PCA prize package worth $16,500.
This year, the player who tops the leaderboard will walk home with the champion’s trophy and one 2015 SCOOP Main Event ticket worth $10,300.
