PokerStars LIVE Manila Opened Its Doors on December 14
PokerStars LIVE Manila opened its doors on Sunday, Dec. 14, with its first tournament at the new Crown Melco operated City of Dreams Manila casino in the Philippines.
PokerStars is no stranger to Asia, as the world's biggest online poker room has maintained a presence in Asia's biggest gaming hub, Macau, for many years. After bouncing around to several casinos, PokerStars LIVE Macau moved to the City of Dreams Macau. According to Poker Asia Pacific, this Macau-based poker room has proven to be very successful with the room growing into the go-to place to play poker in the city.
According to the PokerStars LIVE Manila Facebook page, the newest poker room in Asia hosted five tournament tables and 10 cash game tables at ₱25/₱50 and ₱50/₱100 limits, which is approximately the equivalent to $0.50/$1 and $1/$2 limits.
The inaugural tournament was a special freeroll where players battled for a win a trip to PokerStars LIVE Macau to play in the much anticipated Macau Poker Cup: Red Dragon.
Danny McDonagh, the man in charge of the new poker room, has not yet disclosed what lies ahead for the new poker room, however, it is believed that it will hold many regional tournaments, including a Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Season 9 stop from July 31 to Aug. 9, 2015.
The City of Dreams Manila is one of the four casinos planned for Pagcor Entertainment City precinct in Paranaque City. Bloomberry Resorts Corp. operated Solaire Resort and Casino has been leading the way with its recently reported success.
