Viktor Blom, Nicolas Levi, and Teddy Sheringham to Play in Unibet's Golden Cash Game
As the 13th edition of the Unibet Open approaches, Unibet decided to celebrate this important milestone in style with an initiative named the Golden Cash Game — three days of televised high-stakes cash games in the Unibet Room at Aspers Casino in Stratford, London.
The £5/£10 no-limit hold'em game will run from Monday, Nov. 24 to Wednesday, Nov. 26, and it is set to attract some top international poker players and sports stars.
According to Unibet, and as confirmed by the player from his official Twitter account, one of the very special guests of this exclusive cash game will be Sweden's high-stakes phenomenon Viktor "isildur1" Blom, who has recently ended his sponsorship deal with Full Tilt.
"With the help of our players, we have been trying to make a positive change for poker since launching our new platform, and this cash game hopefully gives something back to the poker community who have supported us throughout the year," Unibet's Head of Poker, Martin Stalros, said. "We’re hoping for a really exciting game that appeals to all poker players."
Besides Blom, whose participation has been seen by many as a hint for a possible future sponsorship deal between the Swede and the Malta-based gambling group, other top names planned for the game are Dan Glimne, the owner of Donkr.com and organizer of the Norwegian Poker Championship Frode Fagerli, British poker icon Neil Channing, and the co-owner of RankingHero.com, France's Nicolas Levi.
To make the event interesting to an even broader public, Unibet has decided to try to bring to the tables some well-known names from the sports world, including the Norwegian sports commentator Morten Langli, Finland's ice-hockey star Esa Tikkanen, and former Manchester United attacker and poker lover Teddy Sheringham.
The live streaming of the invite-only Golden Cash Game can be followed for free from YouTube, and it will be available from 16:00 (GMT) on Nov. 24 on this page. During the streaming, Unibet plans to launch regular daily freerolls and celebrate the event with various social media giveaways.
£250,000 Unibet Open London to kick off on Nov. 27
Right after the closure of the Unibet's first-ever Golden Cash Game, the room will concentrate on the 30th edition number of its Unibet Open — a four-day poker festival to be held at the Aspers Casino.
Built around a tournament-heavy schedule with events that include a £60 Open-Face Chinese Poker Freezeout on Nov. 27, and a £2,000 High Roller on Nov. 29, the upcoming Unibet Open London will be highlighted by a £250,000 Guaranteed £1,100 Main Event running from Nov. 27-30.
