Just one stop remains on the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Season 5 schedule. From Dec. 6-14 the MSPT will visit Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota for a series of qualifiers culminating in a $1,100 buy-in $200,000 guarantee Main Event from Friday, Dec. 12 through Sunday, Dec. 14. What’s more, players only need to be 18 to participate in the tournament.

“There’s no better place to wrap up Season 5 of the MSPT than the place where it all began,” said MSPT owner and operator Bryan Mileski. “Back in December 2009, when we were known as the Minnesota Poker Tour, we launched at Canterbury Park. Since then the property has become a staple on the schedule and continues to be one of the best-performing stops of the year.”

The MSPT visited Canterbury Park earlier in the season when a state-record field of 447 entrants shattered the guarantee by creating a $447,000 prize pool. Mike Wilmes emerged victorious in that event to capture the $108,984 first-place prize. Other past winners of the MSPT Canterbury include John Dragich (Season 1 for $34,765), Jason Senti (Season 2 for $38,540), and MSPT Team Pro Kou Vang (Season 3 for $64,645), just to name a few.

With Season 5 of the tour coming to a close, a new Player of the Year will be named. However, a tight MSPT Season 5 Player of the Year race means it will likely come down to the wire. Right now, Mike Deis leads with 3,350 points, but not far behind at 3,150 points is the aforementioned Vang, while Jason Zarlenga, who has won two events so far this season, sits in third with 3,100 points.

The MSPT Canterbury Park will kick off on Friday, Dec. 5 at 2:30 p.m. with a $260 qualifier, which will see the top 20 percent of the field advance to the Main Event. They will then host a series of qualifiers all week leading up to the $1,100 Main Event. Here’s a look at the entire schedule:
