Borgata and partypoker NJ Announce Two $100,000 Tournaments On Nov. 30 and Dec. 28
New Jersey poker players have more reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving and Christmas, thanks to BorgataPoker.com & partypoker New Jersey teaming up to offer two $100,000-guaranteed tournaments on Nov. 30 and Dec. 28, both at 5 p.m. ET.
The two $100,000-guaranteed tournaments will feature the same $200 buy-in of the normal Sunday major, but provide double the normal $50,000-guaranteed prize pool. The winner of each tournament is guaranteed at least $20,000, even if the total buy-ins come up short of the guarantee.
According to the poker staking forum PartTimePoker, partypoker plans to host $100,000 guaranteed tournaments once a month starting in 2015. Pokerfuse suggested that if the new tournaments are successful, the guaranteed prize pool could reach $200,000 on select Sundays.
Ring-game traffic on the combined network of BorgataPoker.com and partypoker NJ recently reached an all-time low with just a rolling seven-day average of 117 players,according to PokerScout.
These two new tournaments are expected to increase traffic. However, they do come at a risky time since the network has been unable to increase traffic during the summer season, which is considered to historically be when online poker players play less.
Regardless of whether the $100,000 guaranteed prize pools are covered by buy-ins or not, these tournaments should create sufficient buzz in the NJ poker community to increase traffic, which is crucial to the long-term health and ecosystem of the network.
