2014 Seneca Fall Poker Classic: Raimondi Leads Final Flights of Event #2; 110 Advance
All six starting flights are in the books. Now the real tournament begins.
The Seneca Fall Poker Classic continued Tuesday with Flight E and Flight F of Event #2, a $125 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament with a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. When it was all over, a total of 550 entries were tallied, meaning the guarantee was easily surpassed for the second straight time this tournament was offered.
Flight E kicked off Tuesday morning and a total of 125 entries filled the tables before registration closed. Only 25 survived the 12 levels of action, with Steven Solodiuk bagging the biggest stack of 166,900.
Solodiuk picked up momentum when he busted former Fall Poker Classic champ Rick Block with ace-king against pocket eights. That pot pushed him above 100,000 in chips, and he continued building through the evening.
Also advancing from Flight E with healthy stacks were Jack Vaccarello, Siewlee Keelaphan, Tyler Hutchinson and Tony Graziano.
The many who failed to move on during the first five flights were given one final chance to do so in the evening session. Flight F saw 115 entries hit the felt, with only 26 advancing to Wednesday's Day 2. Leading the way for most of the day was Peter Raimondi, who bagged more than 172,000 in chips when the clock hit zero.
In one of his biggest pots of the night, Raimondi and three other players saw a flop of 7x6x2x with two clubs and a player led out for 2,400. Raimondi called with the K♣10♣, and then two players moved all in behind him. Raimondi called with his flush draw, and the turn and river went 10x, 10x to give Raimondi trips and the whole pot.
Also advancing with big stacks are Dennis Durante, Jeff Salhab, Jesse Ferguson, Oksana Jancevic and Ed Rice.
Day 2 of this tournament will resume Wednesday at noon ET with a total of 110 players competing for the title, and PokerNews will have live coverage all the way until a champion is crowned.
