The 2014 PokerNews Cup is Underway!

Players have started to arrive to Montesino Casino in Vienna, Austria, for the day 1a of the 2014 PokerNews Cup Main Event that has already attracted 164 players and 11 re-entries so far.

The series, which is in its fifth edition, is back after a five-year break since Australia's Con Tsapkounis was crowned champion at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia, back in 2009.

Running from October 9-12, the 2014 PokerNews Cup features a €250 buy-in €75,000 GTD Main Event and a €75 buy-in second chance event.

Most of the action will be taking place at the Montesino Casino, however Day 1b of the main event will be taking place at both Montesino Casino and at the Concord Card Casino Simmering.

All the Cup's players will also get the chance to join the action at the cash tables available round-the-clock at the Montesino Casino and enjoy all the attractions of one of Vienna's most popular entertainment centers.

Over the years, the PokerNews Cup gained itself a top spot in the live poker world thanks to the combination of a professional organization, a great poker action and a friendly and beginners-friendly atmosphere.

Among the most notable players that have participated to the past editions of the PokerNews Cup are 2005 World Series of Poker champion Joe Hachem, 2007 WSOP bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro, 2006 bracelet winner Mark Vos and PokerNews founder and world renowned bad boy, Tony G.

Players taking part in the 2014 edition of the PokerNews Cup can follow the action live on our Live Reporting section with German commentary for the two Day 1s, and English commentary during the final day on Sunday, Oct. 12.
