PokerStars Launches Casino in Spain

Amaya Gaming's plan to conquer the online casino gambling industry has entered a fully operational phase as PokerStars added blackjack and roulette games to Spain's PokerStars.es.

"PokerStars aims to remain as the number one poker operator in Spain," PokerStars President for Southern Europe Gino Appiotti said. "[We], strongly believe that in this market, adding casino games is the best way to serve players."

Announced back in July when PokerStars' Spanish subsidiary REEL Spain, Plc obtained two licenses to offer casino games in Spain's regulated market, the inclusion of roulette and blackjack games in PokerStars' platform officially happened on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

"We know that many of our customers are enjoying online casino games on competing platforms," Appiotti continued, adding that he believes that by bringing casino games to PokerStars, the room will "enhance their experience with PokerStars and provide a safe, trusted and convenient way for them to be entertained."

Italy is next in line

Now that the taboo has been broken and the world's biggest poker site officially opened its doors to casino games, Amaya Gaming plans to replicate the Spanish experience in other markets.

According to industry rumors, the next one to see PokerStars-labeled casino tables should be Italy, where the group seems to have decidednot to invest in the launch of a new Full Tilt poker and casino mixed online platform because of the overall poor performance of the Italian gambling industry.

The launch of the Italy's upcoming PokerStars-branded online casino games will be in the hands of EuroBet's current Gaming Director Marco Trucco, who is soon set to replace PokerStars.it former country manager Barbara Beltrami.

After that, it should be finally time for the PokerStars Casino UK website to be launched and become fully operative in the United Kingdom.
