On Aug. 29, the United Kindgom Gambling Commission (UKGC) decided to suspend the gambling license held by Silverline Interactiv Technologies Plc, the company that runs the independent poker room PokerCent.

The decision was announced with a note published on the UKGC's official website.

According to the regulator, the suspension came after the commission ordered a review of the operator's activities. "We are concerned the licensee is operating in a manner which is not consistent with the licensing objectives in regard to ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open manner," the commission said.

To trigger the regulator's attention was the complaint of a player who claimed that he had not been able to withdraw funds from his account, and had also accused the room to have a poor and non-cooperative customer service.

Initially awarded with a positive review, PokerCent was taken off all the rankings published on PokerNews a month before the UKGC decided to suspend its license.

Although we have been positively impressed by the room's software unfortunately the room breached the terms of their display contract with our site leaving us unable to promote their services until the matter can be resolved.

PokerCent, however, seems confident that the UKGC will soon allow them to get back online and restart offering online poker games. According to a statement published on the room's website, the suspension is due to the fact that the regulator asked more information about the room's software certificate, and this should allow PokerCent to restart their operations in less than a month.

"The Gambling Commission of the United Kingdom, which is the provider of our gaming license has requested a new certificate for the gaming software," PokerCent wrote in a statement.

Because the regulation enforces the poker room not to operate during the time of testing, PokerCent believes that regular operations will restart on Oct. 1, 2014.

Here's how to get a deposit refund

If you had an account at PokerCent and you do not want to wait until Oct. 1 to discover if you will be able to sit at the tables again, the room has set up a special procedure for withdrawals and refunds.

In order to withdraw the money available on your PokerCent account, all you need to do is contact the poker room's customer support via email at [email protected] or use the live chat available on the room's website.
