MSPT to Host $200,000 Guarantee $1,100 Buy-In Main Event at Running Aces Sept. 19-21
Season 5 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) just concluded its stop at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino — which proved to be the second-largest MSPT Main Event in history — and now it’s set to descend on Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus, Minnesota.
From Saturday, September 13 through Sunday, September 21, the MSPT will visit the property for the second time this season. Back in February, Mark Sandness topped a field of 353 entrants to capture the first event of Season 5 and $90,913 in prize money. That tournament also marked PokerNews’ Live Reporting debut on the MSPT. Other past winners of the MSPT Running Aces include Joe Matheson (Season 1), Jason Seitz (Season 2), Rodger Johnson (Season 3), and David Gonia (Season 4).
“The MSPT is coming off a successful event in Milwaukee, and we plan to keep the ball rolling into Minnesota,” said MSPT owner and operator Bryan Mileski. “Running Aces has been a staple on our schedule dating back to the beginning, and I have high hopes our sixth time at the venue will prove to be the biggest and best yet.”
Starting at 2 p.m. local time on Saturday, September 13, Running Aces will host $250 qualifiers, which will see the top 20 percent of the field advance to the Main Event. In addition, the property will be hosting various bonus events. Here’s a look at the full MSPT Running Aces qualifier and bonus event schedule:

For those thinking of coming to the MSPT Running Aces from afar, remember Running Aces Harness Park is just a half hour from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, and the MSPT has partnered with Delta Airlines to offer players 2-10 percent discount on airfare.
"As the tour is growing — both in the number of venues and the number of players at each stop — we wanted to be able to offer the players the option of discounted airfare," Judd Greenagel, director of operations at the MSPT, previously said of the partnership. "For the venues it shows that we are doing everything we can to get players to travel to their casino. Delta is a great fit as they can get you anywhere you need to be and at a very fair rate, and their SkyMiles Program is second to none."
