VIDEO: Basketball Star Paul Pierce Talks WSOP, NBA Free Agency and Becoming a Poker Pro
Ten-time NBA All-Star Paul Pierce joined PokerNews' Rich Ryan and the Global Poker Index's Eric Danis for a LIVE Google Hangout during Day 3 of the World Series of Poker Main Event on Thursday.
Pierce, currently an NBA free agent weighing his options for next season, survived Day 2 of the Main Event with a stack of 48,600 and was already building his stack on Day 3 when he sat down at the GPI booth for a chat. He discussed his current situation in the offseason and was uncertain of the outcome. "I don't even know where I'm going," Pierce said when asked where he thinks LeBron James will end up.
"I had a great time in Brooklyn. Even though we started off slow, we turned it around. Unfortunately we didn't get to our ultimate goal, but I enjoyed the experience and who knows where I'll be next year."
With a residence in Los Angeles, is it possible that the L.A. Clippers are in his future? "Doc [Rivers] has given me a call," Pierce said about his former coach in Boston. "Right now, it's free agency so you can talk to teams, so I've talked to Doc."
Skills on the court aside, Pierce also weighed in on who is the best poker player he's played against in the NBA. Without much thought, he mentioned Brooklyn Nets center Jason Collins. And who is the worst? You'll have to watch to find out.
