PokerStars Canada Cup Main Event Day 2: In the Money with Jeremie Bilodeau Leading 0001

Day 2 of the PokerStars Canada Cup $3,300 Main Event began with 240 players on Sunday at Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, Quebec, and play halted when the bubble burst and the tournament made it in the money with 72 players remaining.

After Day 1c came to a close on Saturday, there were 578 total entries, which missed the $2,000,000 guarantee by $266,000. The 72 players who are now in the money are guaranteed a min-cash of $6,010, but all 144 eyes (that’s 72x2, but we have not verified that all players have two eyes) are on the $366,660 payout for the top spot.

The bubble was burst when two eliminations happened simultaneously with 74 players remaining. The unlucky pair was Mario Lepine and Tam Ho who barely missed making their buy-in back when they left their tables and put an end to play in Day 2.

Play will resume at 11 a.m. on Monday and there are 23 minutes to play in Level 17 before the blinds are extended to 90 minutes. There is also a new random seating draw for the players when they return on Monday for Day 3. The new top 10 stacks are as follows:

1Jeremie Bilodeau819,500
2Rayan Chamas776,500
3Sylvain Siebert677,000
4Thiago Nishijima644,000

7McKenzie Liebzeit520,500
8Domenico Agatiello504,000
9Robert Notkin497,000
10Tamer Alkamli435,500

Rayan Chamas, second in chips, achieved his high position in the field by making an astounding hero call just a few spots from the bubble. The board was 65839 and the pot was about 150,000. Chamas checked and Danny Boyaci pushed all in with his stack of 234K. Chamas tanked for nearly eight perplexing minutes before deciding he was holding the better hand and called with 55, miles ahead of Boyaci’s ace-high AJ. Boyaci exited the tournament just four spots from the money and Chamas scooped a huge pile of chips his way.

Other big names who are still surviving and will return for Day 3 include Ami Alibay, Amir Babakhani, PokerStars Team Pro Jonathan Duhamel, Antonio Esfandiari, PokerStars Team Online's Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Pascal Lefrancois, Jonas Mackoff, Ankush Mandavia, Will Molson, Steve Silverman, Carter Swidler, and Mike Watson.

A few of the promising names who weren’t so lucky and did not make it in the money include Eric Afriat, Russell Carson, Andrew Chen, Yann Dion, Lucas Greenwood, Jeff Gross, Ryan Hall, Chanracy Khun, Paul Klann, Kevin MacPhee, Jeff Rossiter, Jonathan Roy, Elliot Smith, Charles Sylvestre, and TJ Ulmer.

With the new seats drawn, it looks like Table 33 will be an exciting one to watch. The roster includes Ami Alibay, Carter Swidler, Steve Silverman, Antonio Esfandiari, and Mike Watson all sharing the same felt.
