Hollywood Poker Open Series Heads to Columbus Friday!
Season 2 of the Hollywood Poker Open kicks off their latest regional event in Columbus, Ohio on Friday at the Hollywood Casino. The series will run through Sunday, May 25, finishing with the $1,800 HPO Regional Main Event.
The winner of the $100,000 guaranteed tournament will not only receive the cash and the trophy, but also a seat in the HPO Championship Event at the M Resort Casino & Spa in Las Vegas in June. As always, PokerNews will be on hand to provide live coverage of the Main Event, including hand reports, chips counts, and more.
“Only in a poker tournament by HPO could an unknown like me sit down with some of the best in the world, have the time of their life, win some money, and go to Vegas," Toby Mathews, winner of HPO Tunica told PokerNews.
Mathews defeated World Series of Poker bracelet winner Jonathan Taylor heads up, and outlasted HPO Ambassador and St. Louis Main Event winner Chris Moneymaker in three-handed play.
HPO Columbus starts with a three-day, $450 no-limit hold'em event. Unlimited reentries are allowed through the first eight levels on Day 1b. All players who advance on Day 1 return for Day 2 on Sunday, May 18 to play down to a champion. The winner of Event #1 will also earn a $2,500 seat to the HPO Championship Event in Las Vegas this summer, as will the player who earns the highest point total on the HPO Leader Board for the Columbus series. Points will be awarded in select tournaments based on finishing position.
Three satellites will run on Friday, May 23, for the Main Event, and another will take place the morning of the Main Event before the first cards are dealt.
