Hollywood Poker Open Charles Town Main Event Begins Saturday
Just two stops remain in Season 2 of the Hollywood Poker Open Regional Tournament Series. The tour touched down in Charles Town, West Virginia last Thursday and will run through Sunday, March 30.
The featured event will be the $1,800 HPO Regional Main Event, which begins tomorrow on Saturday, March 29. As we've done throughout the season, the PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on hand to provide coverage of this Regional Main Event.
You can expect Chris Moneymaker to return to the tables as tour ambassador, but also to look for back-to-back titles. Moneymaker recently won the HPO St. Louis Regional Main Event, capturing $36,295 for first place along with a seat to the $2,500 HPO Championship Event at The M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas in June.
Many notables competed in the Charles Town Main Event last year, including 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Greg Raymer, Chris Bell, Darvin Moon, and 2007 WSOP Main Event finalist Lee Childs.
"The first HPO events I played were in Charles Town, WV last year," Childs said in a recent interview with PokerNews. "At the time, I was living about an hour away from there and was excited to finally have some real tournaments with decent structures close to home. I am really looking forward to March in Charles Town."
Hollywood Charles Town is approximately one hour west of Baltimore, Maryland and Washington D.C., making it an easy commute for travelers attending the series.
After Charles Town, the only remaining series on the schedule is the Hollywood Casino Columbus in Columbus, Ohio, which takes place May 16 through May 25, with the Regional Main Event set for May 24.
Each HPO Regional Main Event winner will receive entry into the $2,500 HPO Championship event at The M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas in June. You can qualify through Sunday tournaments and free roll tournaments through May.
