The Global Poker Index continues to expand its presence in the poker world, announcing Tuesday that it has become the official tournament ranking system for two of Europe’s most prestigious poker rooms, the Aviation Club de France and Casino Barcelona.

The agreement will allow local players to earn GPI points in all regular events at each venue in addition to signature events such as WPT Grand Prix de Paris, EPT Barcelona, the Euro Finals of Poker, the Paris Open of Poker and the Estrellas Poker Tour.

The GPI recent partnered with the European Poker Tour to use its formula to determine the tour's Player of the Year award. Even more clubs, casinos and tour are expected to adopt the GPI formula in the coming months, according to Global Poker Index CEO Alexandre Dreyfus.

"Having leading European poker rooms like the Aviation Club de France and Casino Barcelona joining our initiatives proves that we are continuing to make our mark in the poker world,” said Dreyfus. "Our organization continues to grow and we’re elated to know that we continue to reach a broader audience."

The Global Poker Index ranks the top 300 tournament poker players in the world by using a formula that takes a player's results over six half-year periods. GPI scores are calculated by multiplying the Finishing Percentage Factor by the Buy-in Factor, and the Aging Factor for individual events that fit the GPI criteria.
