Don't Miss the Hollywood Poker Open St. Louis 0001

After three events have been completed in Season 2 of the Hollywood Poker Open Regional Tournament Series, the next stop will be kicking off this weekend in St. Louis. Hollywood Casino St. Louis will play host to a 30-event schedule, culminating with the $1,800 HPO Regional Main Event, March 15-16.

The tournament poker scene in St. Louis has been growing over the more recent years, with a lot of big fields in attendance, and one could expect much of the same from the HPO. Two players that should be in attendance are Chris Moneymaker and Lee Childs.

"The first HPO events I played were in Charles Town, WV last year. At the time, I was living about an hour away from there and was excited to finally have some real tournaments with decent structures close to home," Childs said. "I didn’t realize until I got there that it was Bill Bruce’s crew that was running the events, so I was really happy when I walked in and saw those folks. It’s always nice to see familiar faces at events, but to have what I think is one of the best tournaments crews around running the event near home was awesome."

Hollywood Casino St. Louis is located just a short 20-minute drive from downtown St. Louis, and has more than 2,160 slot and video poker machines, 59 table games, a 21-table poker room, and several amazing dining options. Players may also receive a special hotel rate during the event dates. Using the codes "HPO79" or "HPO129," players may receive $129 on March 7-8 and March 14-15, or $79 on March 9-13 and March 16.

The inaugural Hollywood Poker Open Championship took place last June at the M Resort. The HPO held various qualifying events, sending over 200 players to Las Vegas with a seat into the Main Event. In the fist $2,500 HPO Championship Event ever held, it was Spain’s Ana Marquez who emerged victorious over the 631-player field. The event generated a total prize pool of $1,423,062, of which Marquez took home the top prize of $320,189.
