The Sunday Briefing: Sean Getzwiller Tops Jake Bazeley to Win PokerStars Sunday Million
With the PokerStars Sunday Million regularly attracting more than 7,000 participants every week, once in a while you'll see a well-known pro sidestep the landmines and find the winner's circle. But it's not often you see two top players battle heads-up for the title.
On Sunday, Sean Getzwiller and Jacob Bazeley were the last two players standing from a huge field of 7,748 in the Sunday Million, Getzwiller, a WSOP bracelet winner, eventually walked away with the title and the top prize of $232,443.
According to the PokerStars Blog, Getzwiller had a sizable lead on Bazeley when heads-up play began and the two briefly discussed the terms of a deal. After Bazeley decided to decline, the two exchanged a few pots before seeing a J♦10♠2♣ flop. A raising war ensued that resulted in Bazeley three-betting all-in with K♠10♦. Getzwiller called and was in front with K♣K♥, and the A♦ turn and 4♠ river sealed his title.
