PokerNews to Cover 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open
The Borgata Winter Poker Open is one of the most popular poker tournament destinations on the East Coast every year. The 2014 edition is less than two weeks away, and we're excited to announce that PokerNews will be providing exclusive, live coverage for each of the 23 events on the schedule from Jan. 14-31!
Taking place at the luxurious Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, N.J., the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open kicks off with a $560 no-limit hold'em reentry event on Jan. 14 that includes a massive $2 million guaranteed prize pool. Last year's version of this event attracted 4,482 entries, generating a prize pool of $2,241,000. The eventual winner was Maksim Rosenfield who turned his $560 entry into $363,091!
This year's festival will include eight tournaments tagged with a guaranteed prize pool of at least $100,000. The series will be highlighted by the World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship from Jan. 26-31. The tournament features three starting flights and a $3 million guaranteed prize pool.
Last year, Andy Hwang took down the 2013 World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Open Championship for $730,053. Hwang outlasted a field of 1,042 including a final table that featured eventual WPT Player of the Year Matt Salsberg (sixth place).
