The 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open continued into the weekend with more big poker action from Atlantic City. On Friday and Saturday, several events saw action with a couple of them coming to a close, but none of those topped the updated news that came out regarding Event 1: $2 Million Guarantee Big Stack NLHE Re-Entry.

Following the suspension of play in Event 1 due to an investigation surrounding counterfeit tournament chips being used in play, Borgata officials, working with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), cancelled the event.

Joe Lupo, Senior Vice President of Operations for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, told PokerNews that the tournament had been compromised and the gaming commission was investigating the matter. The Borgata announced Saturday afternoon that the DGE has ordered the cancellation of the tournament. All unpaid prize money will be frozen until the investigation is complete.

Aside from the news of the tournament cancellation, a couple players earned victories on Friday and Saturday. In Event 3: $560 Deep Stack NLHE Re-Entry, Joe McKeehen (pictured) took the title and $69,808 in first-place prize money. In Event 4: $500 Pot-Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better, it was another Joe, Joe Villella, who finished on top for $18,334. And then in Event 5: $100,000 Guaranteed Big Stack NLHE Re-Entry, Iverson Cotton Snuffer defeated Chad Brown to win the trophy and $63,882.

Snuffer outlasted a field of 818 players to win. On the final hand against Brown, Snuffer's AQ held up against Brown's K6 after the board ran out 98738.

On Sunday, four more events will be in action. Event 6: $500 H.O.R.S.E., Event 7: $340 Seniors NLHE, Event 8: $400 $250,000 Guaranteed Deeper Stack NLHE Re-Entry, and Event 9: $300 Ladies Deep Stack NLHE Re-Entry will all be running.
