World Poker Tour Adds Thunder Valley Casino Resort to Season XII Schedule 0001

On Monday, Nov. 25, the World Poker Tour announced an addition to the Season XII schedule. In March of 2014, the tour will head to California for the third time of the season for WPT Thunder Valley.

The newly-announced stop will take place following the other two California events on the current schedule, the L.A. Poker Classic and the Bay 101 Shooting Star, and will run March 15-19 with a $3,500 buy-in Main Event that boasts two starting days and reentry format. Thunder Valley Casino Resort will play host.

"With the addition of WPT Thunder Valley we’ve created a California swing that makes in-state transportation both easy and affordable for players traveling from L.A. to Northern California, and which provides great opportunities to enjoy the California sunshine while experiencing all the amazing attractions the state has to offer,” said WPT President Adam Pliska in the company's press release.

It's no secret that having an easy route to go from major tournament to major tournament is a favorite convenience of many players, and plenty have enjoyed such situations over in Europe for the past couple of years. Players will now be able to attend the L.A. Poker Classic from March 1-6 at Commerce Casino in Commerce, California, and then shoot up to the Bay 101 Shooting Star in San Jose, California that takes place March 10-14.

With the Thunder Valley event taking place right off the back end of Bay 101 and just a brief two-hour drive from San Jose, these three stops fall nicely in a row.

The next stop of Season XII is the partypoker WPT Montreal, beginning Nov. 29. PokerNews will have daily recaps from the $3,850 Main Event, so stay tuned.
