XYverify Receives Geolocation Verification Approval for New Jersey iGaming
With less than a month to go before an anticipated Nov. 26 launch, New Jersey's real-money online gambling plans seem to be coming together on schedule. On Monday, XYverify Corp. was the first company to receive approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) to provide geolocation verification services to casinos in the state.
New Jersey law requires verification that an Internet gaming customer is physically located in New Jersey before they can play. According to the Web gambling bill signed by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie earlier this year, "No software, computer or other gaming equipment shall be used to conduct Internet wagering unless it is able to verify that a player placing a wager is physically present in this State at the time that the wager is placed.”
With these strict limitations in place, a high level of importance has been placed on the need for accurate and reliable geolocation solutions. XYverify's services are designed to ensure that the necessary requirements are met.
Using "Cell Tower Triangulation and Assisted-GPS technology," the company will work with LocationSmart to offer carrier-secured network location services to gaming technology providers for real-time wagering approval. XYverify selected LocationSmart as its exclusive partner for carrier-secured network location service.
New Jersey plans to go live with Internet gambling on Nov. 26 after a five-day trial period starting on Nov. 21. The state has already awarded gaming licenses to five operators, including Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Tropicana Casino and Resort, Golden Nugget Atlantic City, and two Trump properties.
New Jersey was the third U.S. state to approve online gambling in one form or another. Nevada, which had a poker-only bill signed into law earlier this year, is currently the only state running its enterprise, but Delaware is expected to launch its iGaming operation later this week.
