According to a report from the Baltimore Sun on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, the Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Cumberland, Maryland, which opened to the public on May 22, received approval and began to host live poker games.

The approval came following sign-off from Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency Director Stephen Martino. Following a demonstration that took place on Thursday to test internal controls, employee training, security, and technical systems, Martino signed an operations license to allow poker at the venue.

"In recent years, poker has exploded in popularity, and players have come to expect it at most major casinos," said the resort's general manager,Scott Just, in an announcement.

The venue now has three tables for poker in the hotel lobby, increasing the number of tables games at Rocky Gap to 13. There are eight seats available at each poker table offering the ever so popular Texas hold'em.
