2013 WSOP Europe Day 1: Glazier Eyes First Bracelet in Ladies Event
The 2013 World Series of Poker Europe kicked off on Friday with the first of eight gold bracelet events. The first-ever WSOP Europe Ladies Event garnered a buy-in of €1,100 and attracted a field of 65 competitors, including the likes of Liv Boeree, Allyn Jaffrey Shulman, and Loni Harwood. At the end of the first day from the two-day event, just eight players remained, and it was none other than Jackie Glazier leading the way with 57,400 in chips.

Glazier's successful run thus far in this event comes off the heels of her very deep run in the 2013 WSOP Main Event this summer, where she placed 31st for $229,281. This run also marks Glazier's second WSOP final table. In 2012, she came ever so close to capturing her first gold bracelet in Event #41: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em, but wound up finishing runner-up to Greg Ostrander for $458,996.
With the chip lead and much notoriety, all eyes will surely be on Glazier for Day 2, but the short stack remaining shares just as much fame, specifically with the title of "last woman standing" in the WSOP Main Event. Gaelle Baumann will return for Day 2 with just 4,500 in chips, but she knows a thing or two about making deep runs. In 2012, Baumann bubbled the largest tournament in the world, taking 10th place in the WSOP Main Event for $590,442.
While only eight players remain, the field is still not in the money. Seven spots will be paid out and top prize is worth €21,850, but one more will have to leave empty handed. The unlucky player will join the aforementioned Boeree, Shulman, and Harwood on the rail, along with Jessica Dawley, Liya Gerasimova, and Sam Cohen.
According to the WSOP.com live updates, Harwood busted at the hands of Glazier when she was all in with the A♣6♠ and failed to come from behind against the Australian's K♠K♦. The board came 9♠6♥2♥3♣10♥ to send the chips Glazier's way. Boeree was eliminated when she moved the last of her chips in with the A♣3♣ only to run into Anais Lerouge's K♦K♣. The board ran out Q♥9♠4♦K♥5♣ to send Boeree to the rail.
