Over the weekend, Ultimate Poker released a highly anticipated software upgrade. The upgrade included changes to the site's virtual tables, the lobby, tournaments, an addition of an online merchandise store, and a player awards program.

In terms of the table and lobby changes that have been made, the first thing that will stick out are the updated graphics. From there, you'll notice that the tables are now resizable, as are the avatars, the cards are larger, and preset betting buttons have been incorporated. The newly resizable tables, preset betting buttons, and upgraded server will each serve the handful of multi-tabling regulars looking to increase the volume of their play.

It has been a long question from many of Ultimate Poker's players on when the site would roll out its player awards program. With the recent update released, it is now available. The VIP program is called Color UP and consists of multiple tiers, broken down yearly and monthly. There are eight monthly tiers, and two yearly tiers. Each player automatically begins in Tier 1, the White Chip tier, and increase their VIP status by earning experience points (XP). The two yearly tiers are the Gold Plaque and Platinum Plaque tiers, and those are reserved for the best players on Ultimate Poker "based on annual play and calculated on a rolling yearly calendar." In regards to the site's tournaments, players now have increased options specifically pertaining to late registration and additional entries.

"This is just the first step," commented Ultimate Gaming Chief Marketing Officer Joe Versaci in the press release. "We are dedicated to listening to our customers and are working hard to continually enhance and enrich the product by introducing new features and upgrades."
