GPI Player of the Year: Silverman, Kurganov and O'Dwyer Join the Top 10
After winning the 2013 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Main Event and €25,000 High Roller, respectively, Steve O'Dwyer and Steven Silverman join the top 10 of the 2013 Global Poker Index Player of the Year race. Also joining them in the top 10 is Team Germany's Igor Kurganov. Kurganov cashed in the EPT Grand Final Main Event and finished seventh in the €25,000 High Roller.

In winning the EPT Grand Final Main Event, O'Dwyer rocketed up 31 spots in the GPI Player of the Year race. The Irishman earned just over $1.6 million for the victory, and now has nearly $1.9 million in earnings in 2013. Back in March, O'Dwyer made the final table of the EPT London Main Event, finishing fifth and earning $219,704.
Silverman jumped up 17 places after winning the EPT Grand Final €25,000 High Roller. Silverman guaranteed himself €760,000 when he made a three-handed deal with Tony Gregg and Fady Kamar, and then won the extra €15,400 and the trophy when he bested his good friend Gregg heads up. Silverman then tried to run the gauntlet, buying into the €100,000 Super High Roller. Unfortunately for him, he busted on Day 1.
Kurganov climbed 12 spots in the Player of the Year race with yet another cash in a high-roller event. He won the EPT Grand Final High Roller in Season 8, but in Season 9 he was forced to settle for seventh place and $202,851.
German Ole Schemion climbed up to second place in the Player of the Year race, thanks to a win in a €5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha side event at the EPT Grand Final. He also finished third in the €5,000 Eight-Game in Monaco, and now has nearly $800,000 in earnings in 2013. Schemion will not be eligible to play in the 2013 World Series of Poker, however, because he will not be 21.
Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu made another big leap with his fourth-place finish in the EPT Grand Final Main Event. Kid Poker, who now has over $1.5 million in tournament earnings in 2013, jumped up 84 spots and now sits in 24th position.
