GPI Player of the Year: Matt Salsberg Joins the Top 10 0001

Paul Volpe remained the leader in the 2013 Global Poker Index Player of the Year race this week with 602.28 points. Nine of the top 10 spots remained the same from last week, with Matt Salsberg entering the ranks at No. 10.

Salsberg has made two World Poker Tour final tables this year, finishing sixth at both WPT Borgata Winter Open and WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open. He also has a seventh-place finish and a 10th-place finish at WPT Venice and WPT bestbet Open respectively.

David "Doc" Sands and David Tuthill both jumped 20 spots this week. Sands now sits at 24 after finishing 20th in the WPT bestbet Open, while Tuthill sits at 27 after getting 28th in the same event.

2011 World Series of Poker November Niner Matt Giannetti and Franck Kalfon also made big leaps. Giannetti took 22nd in the WPT bestbet Open, putting him in 50th-place, while Kalfon just barely broke the top 100 with his third-place finish in a €1,800 event at the Deepstack series de Deauville.

Michael Linster made the biggest jump this week, skyrocketing up 275 places to 81st. He of course won the WPT bestbet Open, earning $296,521.
