Following Day 1a and 1b of the four-day event, Norway's Esben Guenther led the way with 281 players remaining. He went on to make the final table, finishing in fifth place for €41,000. Day 2's chip leader was former EPT Snowfest champion Vladimir Geshkenbin with 36 players left, and he parlayed that big stack into an eighth-place finish for €16,870.
Of the 112 players to make the money, other notables included George Clyde-Smith (92nd — €2,000), Paul Testud (72nd — €2,500), Erich Kollmann (51st — €2,800) and Ismael Bojang (44th — €3,200). Team PokerStars Pro Max Lykov was the only Team Pro to finish in the money. He earned €3,700 for his 39th-place finish. Recent World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific gold bracelet winner Aaron Lim took 74th for €2,200.
Heading into the final table, Russia's Anatoly Filatov had the chip lead, while de Korver sat in fifth place of the eight remaining players. Despite not being the leading stack at the start, de Korver found himself in sole possession of all the chips at the table when things were all said and done.
De Korver has been very hot in the last six months. In that time period, he's now earned three six-figure scores. To go along with this big win, de Korver finished runner-up in the €5,000 Master Classic of Poker Main Event for €171,720 in November, then came third in the €1,350 Pokerstars Hold'em Challenge Winter Edition Main Event for €100,000 in December.
