The DeepStacks Poker Tour continued expanding internationally this week by adding a new stop in Spain at the luxurious Casino Barcelona.

The inaugural DeepStacks Poker Tour Barcelona Challenge will be held Sept. 22 through 29, 2013. The seven-event series will culminate with a €1,500 buy-in Main Event that will be live-streamed online via DeepStacks.com, DeepStacks360.com and Casino-Barcelona.com.

Among the players already committed to making the trip to Barcelona are DeepStacks Pros Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, and Tristan "Cre8ive” Wade.

"I think it is a great thing that DeepStacks has expanded to the European market," said Wade, who also does commentary for the DeepStacks Poker Tour broadcasts. "We work hard to put on great tournament series, and we want to change some of the dynamics within the poker industry. Poker is still growing globally. Hopefully we can make an impression in Barcelona and bring our tournaments to other stops around the world. I have a big say in how things are done with DeepStacks and I will do my best to make sure we continue to do things the right way. I'm excited for what the future holds."

As is the case with all DeepStacks Poker Tour Main Events, the winner of the DeepStacks Poker Tour Barcelona Challenge will earn a seat to the 2013 DSPT World Championship at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

"From Day 1, we targeted Casino Barcelona to be a main stop on our European tour,” said DeepStacks CEO Chris Torina. "Their experience in running major poker tournaments ensured that the DeepStacks Poker Tour would be very well-represented in Spain. DeepStacks couldn't be prouder about adding Casino Barcelona to its schedule."

“Casino Barcelona is very happy to welcome this new and exciting poker festival in its installations," added Enrique Lopez, Casino Barcelona's poker development manager. "We are very proud to have the DeepStacks Poker Tour as a European exclusivity and this reinforces us as the Spanish and European leader in poker events. This series of tournaments will be very important for Casino Barcelona and we invite you to discover as well the beautiful city of Barcelona during the best month of the year, September and during the week Barcelona celebrates a whole week of public festivities where gastronomy, culture, art, and much more will be awaiting for you.”

The DeepStacks Poker Tour will launch its second season Jan. 28 at the Isle of Pompano Casino in Pompano Park, Fla., with a $1,500 buy-in Main Event that boasts a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Then, after stops in Oregon, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, the tour will make its first trip outside the U.S. to Aruba for the DeepStacks Poker Tour PPC-Aruba $200,000 Guarantee Main Event from May 2 through 9.
