Online Railbird Report

The 2012 World Series of Poker Europe may be in full swing in Cannes, France, but let us not forget about the non-stop online high-stakes action found on PokerStars. Last week’s biggest winner, Sam “tr1cky7” Trickett, gave back $173,219 of his winnings and Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky moved past the $3 million mark for the year.

It was a good week for “1Il|1Il|1il|”, who won $498,923 in 13,968 hands over 204 sessions. “Odd_Oddsen” (+$317,778 in 65 sessions/2m503 hands), Ben “Ben86” Tollerene (+$232,299 in 152 sessions/5,411 hands), “Gozoboro” (+$188,036 in 134 sessions/9,739 hands) and Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky (+$172,032 in 15 sessions/2,549 hands) rounded out the top five biggest winners.

Andreas “Skjervøy” Torbergsen, who dropped $466,789 in 10,147 hands spread across 128 sessions, booked the biggest loss of the week. Others who found themselves in the losing category include “KPR” (-$337,938 in 9 sessions/1,890 hands), “altiFC” (-$198,110 in 22 sessions/1,970 hands) and “M.O.P.” (-$181,257 in 124 sessions/5,767 hands).

Kyllönen’s September Success Continues

On Thursday, Sept. 20, Jens “Jeans89” Kyllönen put in a full day at the pot-limit Omaha tables. He played various stakes, logging off a $239,000 winner, enough to make him the day’s biggest.

In his largest pot at a five-handed $100/$200 PLO table, Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky ($49,252) opened for $800 only to have Kyllönen ($43,908.91) three-bet to $2,900 from the button. Both blinds got out of the way, Sulsky four-bet to $10,000, Kyllönen five-bet to $31,000, and Sulsky moved all in. Kyllönen called off his remaining $12,908.92, and suddenly, an $88,233 pot was on the line.

Kyllönen: AKA4

Both players held aces, but Kyllönen’s hearts that made the difference as the board ran out 64K77 to give him a rivered flush and the win.

In another hand, the stakes were the same when “1Il|1Il|1il|” ($37,827.40) opened for $600 from the cutoff only to have Kyllönen ($84,347.14) three-bet to $2,300 from the button. “1Il|1Il|1il|” made the call and then checked the J26 flop to Kyllönen, who bet $3,200. “1Il|1Il|1il|” sprung to life with a check-raise to $11,200 and then called off his remaining $24,287.40 when Kyllönen moved all in.

“1Il|1Il|1il|” held top pair and a jack-high flush draw, but both were behind the aces and ace-high flush draw of Kyllönen. Neither the 6 turn nor 7 river changed a thing and Kyllönen was pushed the $76,070 pot.

After taking a brief break for rest, Kyllönen returned on Friday and added an additional $102,100 to his bankroll, making him the biggest winner for the second day in a row. The win put Kyllönen over $2.3 million in the black for 2012, making him one of PokerStars’ biggest winners so far this year.

With that said, Kyllönen wasn’t even at the table in the day’s biggest hand, which came at a three-handed game of $100/$200 PLO. In it, “patpatman” ($95,074.25) opened for $600 on the button, “1Il|1Il|1il|” ($10,503.59) three-bet to $2,120 from the small blind, and Andreas “Skjervøy” Torbergsen ($39,194) four-bet $7,080 from the big. Not to be outdone, “patpatman” five-bet $24,080, “1Il|1Il|1il|” called off, and Torbergsen came along for the ride. When the flop fell 3J8, Torbergsen shoved and “patpatman” made the call.

The 3 turn and 7 river completed the board, and Torbergsen rolled over KK87 for kings and threes. Unfortunately for him, “patpatman” revealed AAQQ for aces and threes, good enough for the $88,886 pot as “1Il|1Il|1il|” mucked.

Sulsky Makes it $3 Million on Sunday

It’s no secret that Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky has had a great year. After all, he’s been battling with “EireAbu” atop the PokerStars leaderboard for most winnings in 2012. On Sunday, Sulsky solidified his place atop that list with a $214,400 win, which put him over $3 million in winnings since January, two-thirds of which has come in PLO and the rest no-limit hold’em.

In his biggest pot, action was five-handed at a $100/$200 PLO game when “RaiseOnce” ($9,321.85) opened for $600 under the gun and Sulsky ($65,063.75) called from the button. Andreas “Skjervøy” Torbergsen ($35,736.16) came along from the small blind, and then “patpatman” ($73,260.03) three-bet to $3,200 from the big. All three of his opponents made the call, and there was four-way action to the 25Q flop.

Torbergsen checked, “patpatman” bet $8,446.75, “RaiseOnce” folded, and Sulsky raised to $38,335.25. Torbergsen got out of the way, “patpatman” moved all in, and Sulsky called off his remaining $23,528.50.

Sulsky was ahead with top set, but was looking to dodge the flush and overpair draws of “patpatman.” The 5 turn gave "patpatman" a full house and made diamonds obsolete for Sulsky, and the K river gave "patpatman" the $136,643 pot.

In another notable hand, action was three-handed when Sulsky ($54,835) opened for $700 on the button, Torbergsen ($56,029.23) called from the small blind, and Kyllönen ($57,703.50) three-bet $2,920 from the big. Sulsky responded with a four-bet to $10,280, Torbergsen got out of the way, and Kyllönen made the call, bringing about a flop of 946. Kyllönen led out for $19,975 and then called when Sulsky moved all in for $44,555.

Kyllönen held a wrap, but did not get there as the 9 appeared on the turn followed by the 3 on the river. Sulsky’s kings held firm and he was pushed the $110,405 pot; meanwhile, Kyllönen went on to give back $118,000 from what he’d won over the previous two days.

“1Il|1Il|1il|” Digging Out of the Red

“1Il|1Il|1il|” has graced the loser’s list the vast majority of 2012, but he did have some luck on Monday when he played 1,500 hands over six hours and banked $286,000. In his biggest pot of the day, action was six-handed at a $200/$400 PLO table when “1Il|1Il|1il|” ($73,830) opened for $1,200 from the hijack only to have Jens “Jeans89” Kyllönen ($46,386) three-bet to $4,200 from the button. The blinds got out of the way, “1Il|1Il|1il|” made the call, and the flop came down 1082.

“1Il|1Il|1il|” proceeded to check-raise Kyllönen’s bet of $6,000 up to $26,995, and then Kyllönen moved all in for $42,186. “1Il|1Il|1il|” made the call and the cards were turned up.

“1Il|1Il|1il|”: KA109
Kyllönen: 10985

Kyllönen was ahead with two pair when the money went in, but the A turn gave “1Il|1Il|1il|” a bigger two pair and the lead. The Q river was of no consequence and “1Il|1Il|1il|” took down the $93,367 pot.
