The European Poker Tour recently announced another Champion of Champions €100,000 Freeroll to be held at the EPT Grand Final in Monaco on May 1. The event, which will be filmed for television and broadcasted live on PokerStars.tv, will be a six-max turbo tournament and invite back all former EPT champions.

The top six finishers in the freeroll will be awarded the following prizes:

  • 1st — Live Event EPT Passport worth €35,000
  • 2nd — Live Event EPT Passport worth €25,000
  • 3rd — Live Event EPT Passport worth €17,500
  • 4th — Live Event EPT Passport worth €10,000
  • 5th — Live Event EPT Passport worth €7,500
  • 6th — Live Event EPT Passport worth €5,000

The Champion of Champions tournament was introduced last year and saw 50 past EPT champs take to the felt. Mike McDonald, Noah Boeken, Liv Boeree, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Arnaud Mattern, Galen Hall and Jason Mercier were among the players who competed, and Hall and Mercier ultimately squared heads-up for the title.

In the last hand of that match, which was about an hour into heads-up play, the chips got all in preflop with Mercier holding A2 and out in front of Hall’s K3. The board ran out AQ7A7 and Mercier took home €50,000 in future EPT buy-ins.

This year, even more players are expected given that Ronny Kaiser, Martin Schleich, Benny Spindler, Andrey Pateychuk, Zimnan Ziyard, Martin Finger, John Dibella, Vadzim Kursevich, Mickey Petersen and Frederik Jensen have all taken home Season 8 titles.
