On Sunday, the third and final day of the 2012 PokerStars.fr France Poker Series Snowfest Evian Main Event kicked off at Casino d'Evian on the French side of Lake Geneva. Gilles Mellet led the final 13 players who began the day with hopes of taking home the trophy and €70,000 first-place prize. By day's end, 18-year-old Veronika Pavlikova had topped the field.

In an unexpected, though relentless rise to victory, the PokerStars qualifier overcame all odds to defeat several seasoned adversaries in the 296-player, €1,100 buy-in event. Once she ousted French favorite and WPT champion Guillaume Darcourt, nothing, and no one was able to stop her on her way to the title. This win marks her first major victory.

Neither Thibaud Guenegou (10th, €4,200) nor Team PokerStars Pro Matthias de Meulder (ninth, €4,200) made it to the official final table. Their eliminations seemingly left the road to victory wide open for Darcourt who soon took the lead after ousting Damien Denis (sixth, €12,000) with A9 all in preflop versus QQ thanks to an ace on the river.

That was Darcourt's last exploit, however, because Pavlikova took him over with a straight, then eliminated him later on with A9 versus QJ by making a flush on the turn, ending the pink-haired Frenchman's run in fourth place.

Pavlikova was then unstoppable, running over her last two opponents without flinching and snatching the win after a one-sided heads-up match where her A6 crushed Ludovic Marguerat's 710 preflop. The 46A10K board concluding her fearless run to victory with a well-deserved €70,000 payday.
